NEW YORK

New York is the largest city in the United States. It is located in the state of New York. More than  eight million people live in the Big Apple. In spite of the open land in the state, New York's population is very urban, with 92% of residents living in an urban area.

New York City is also home of the United Nations since 1949 beside the East River. The UN headquarters officially opened on January 9, 1951.

New York City is home to two hundred and fifty museums, four hundred art galleries, and the world famous Broadway for entertainment. Broadway theatre, commonly called simply Broadway, refers to theatrical performances represented in one of the 40 large professional theatres with 500 seats or more.

New York City is the business capital of the world and many national and international corporations have their headquarters in New York City. Wall Street, the world's leading center of finance and the home of the American Stock Exchange.

The Empire State Building is considered as the number one tourist attraction in New York with ten to twenty thousand visitors daily. The Empire State building has 102 floors.

New York has been the stage for almost 1000 movies, from The Thieving Hand  in 1908 to Wall Street in 2010. 

As far as professional sports go, this city has two of everything. Two professional baseball, basketball, hockey, and football teams are located in the city. Baseball is the city's most closely followed sport.
